This game may have launched a franchise. It may have created the formula that everyone loves. It may even be better than what I'm about to pitch it to you as.
But it's... not good.
This is Ape Escape, but instead of Sony, it's Square + Disney, and also it's worse than Ape Escape.
Sora controls poorly. The beginning of this game is a test of your patience. The majority of people playing Kingdom Hearts I in the year 2020+ are people who played it as a kid, and already did things the hard way when they had eyes of wonder, and don't remember the true frustrations of LITERALLY no conveyance.
This isn't a game where "Oh, you should have read." This is a game where "Haha, we didn't tell you, guess."
In Kingdom Hearts (Ape Escape) Sora (Spike) and his best friend Riku (Jake) get sent to a different world (to a different time).
You travel around defeating (capturing) heartless (monkeys) in different worlds (worlds). Every 3ish (3ish) worlds (worlds) you fight an increasingly evil Riku (Jake) until the end where you beat friendship into him. A genius heartless (monkey) is the BBEG.
You get reskinned weapons (You get actual physically different weapons that do different things and are necessary to progress).
You return to worlds to farm for a better reskin (You return to worlds to eradicate those damn dirty apes)
It has great music (It has music)
So +1 for Kingdom Hearts, +99 for Ape Escape.
I rest my case.
